Dr. Stanley T. Wearden
Dear Members of the Methodist University Community,

While we recognize that violence is sometimes morally unavoidable, in principle Methodist University abhors violence in all forms. On moral and humanitarian grounds, we condemn terrorism, which we define as the use of violence or the threat of violence, especially against civilians, for purposes of achieving a political end. We likewise condemn the deliberate violent targeting of civilians, deliberate violent targeting of children, and genocide. Violence always has profound effects on the innocent and the powerless; therefore, we strongly believe that non-violent conflict resolution is always morally preferable. The University stands for non-violence in all forms.

Sincerely,

Stanley T. Wearden, Ph.D.
President
