One of the Fayetteville community’s most impactful events is returning to Methodist University this weekend.

The Cape Fear Valley Foundation’s Step Up 4 Health and Wellness Expo is set for this Saturday, April 20, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon at Methodist University’s Duggins Soccer Stadium – featuring a 4K, one-mile race, and a variety of family-friendly activities. The best part – the event raises donations for Cape Fear Valley Health Friends of Cancer Center, Children’s Services, the Community Alternatives Program, Cumberland County Medication Access Program, and Heart Care.

More than a thousand people from the greater Fayetteville community flooded to Methodist University’s campus on Saturday for the Cape Fear Valley Foundation’s Step Up 4 Health and Wellness Expo.Like last year, the races will be held throughout MU’s sprawling 600-acre campus while Duggins Soccer Stadium will house the Wellness Expo, which will include information booths, food trucks, kids area, music, giveaways, and sponsor tables.

“We are excited to hold the third annual Step Up 4 Health and Wellness Expo at Methodist University again and appreciate the hospitality of the Monarch family in helping us make this another great event for the community,” said Sabrina Brooks, vice president of the Cape Fear Valley Foundation. “The partnership between Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health to establish a School of Medicine provides the perfect backdrop to this event. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the day, while learning more about healthcare in our community.”

There is still time to register for the event. The cost is $35 for adults and $30 for children (3 and under are free). However, groups registering four or more people take an additional $5 off each registrant fee. All registered participants receive a t-shirt. The Methodist University community is eligible for a special discount (see MU email on March 14 for more details).

Last year, more than 500 community members participated in the Step Up 4 Health and Wellness Expo. For more information about the event or to donate, visit the event webpage.
