Monarch Momentum

Methodist University’s Preferential Graduate Program Admissions Pathways

About the Monarch Momentum Pathways

The “Monarch Momentum” pathways are open to undergraduate students who are interested in continuing their education in one of Methodist University’s graduate programs. Interested students can join a Monarch Momentum pathway to four programs in the College of Health Sciences & Human Services (Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, M.M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies, and M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling) and the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine.

Students can choose any undergraduate major as long as they work with their academic advisor to ensure program pre-requisites are also completed. When applying to one these graduate programs, Monarch Momentum students must meet the same rigorous academic requirements as traditional applicants, including minimum GPA, satisfactory completion of pre-requisite courses, and for some programs, a minimum number of observation or patient care hours. These basic requirements are built into each Monarch Momentum pathway, along with recommended courses tailored to bolster success in each graduate program. See the Monarch Momentum summary document linked below.

What makes Monarch Momentum unique among admission preference programs is that it offers Methodist University graduates a guaranteed admissions interview. Add a solid interview to meeting the admission requirements, and these students will have the first opportunity for a seat in their program’s incoming class. While not a guarantee of admission, the guaranteed interview provides the significant competitive advantage that applicants are seeking.

Students interested in joining a Monarch Momentum pathway to graduate study at Methodist University should contact their academic advisor.
