Mission Statement

The Academic Support mission is to provide supportive instruction and guidance in all disciplines for students, as well as supportive guidance on all forms of writing to students, staff, and faculty through review, instruction, and feedback, as appropriate, in a holistic learning environment consistent with the values of the Methodist University Mission Statement.

What We Do

The Academic Support Department is committed to providing dedicated support services to students working towards meeting and maintaining good academic standing at Methodist University. Along with the services of writing consultations and academic subject peer tutoring available to all MU students, Academic Support provides group writing consultations and peer tutoring during popular student-athlete study hall times. Other services include a tracking system for flexible accountability of required student-athlete study hours, individual advising sessions with the Director of Academic Support and the Coordinator of Student Success for students enrolled in the Methodist Academic Achievement Program (MAAP) and for students on Academic Warning, and an in-person course during which students develop an Academic Success Plan to help them achieve their academic goals. The plan consists of the student setting long and short-term goals, identifying various learning strategies to improve upon, and determining which Methodist University resources are available to help the student be academically successful. This plan is shared with the student’s Academic and Career Advisor who also meets individually with students and who will provide additional support in the student’s implementation of their Academic Success Plan.

We are located in Davis Memorial Library. The information desk is just inside the library entrance by the Quad.

  • Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: CLOSED
  • Sunday: 3– 11 p.m.
