While Methodist University has long-standing agreements with community colleges in the state and region – making for smooth transitions for students from those colleges to the opportunities and degrees available at a premier four-year institution – MU continues to walk alongside its partners to create every pathway possible.

Such was the case, April 15, as Methodist University President Stanley T. Wearden and other leaders from MU visited Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, N.C., to sign an enhanced agreement that will allow CCCC students an “assured-entry pathway” to MU upon graduation.
With this agreement, CCCC students may apply to MU without incurring any application fees and they may carry with them the credit they earned for as much relevant study as possible. In addition, students may take two courses (up to eight credits) at MU while completing their associate degree at CCCC at the current tuition rate at CCCC. Students are guaranteed admission upon successful completion of the associate degree with a 2.0 grade point average from CCCC.
“Methodist University is very appreciative of the partnership with Central Carolina Community College. Students who transfer to Methodist after finishing an associate degree at Central Carolina are among our very best students. They are exceptionally well prepared,” Wearden said. “This partnership, along with Methodist’s generous scholarship program for Central Carolina students who receive North Carolina Need-Based Scholarships, helps to make receiving an MU bachelor’s degree smooth, seamless, and affordable. We are very proud of this relationship.”
Although Methodist University accepts transfer credits from accredited institutions of higher learning, MU also has developed unique Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with local community colleges to make transferring credits even easier for students to enroll. MU’s current partner schools include Bladen CC, Central Carolina CC, Fayetteville Tech CC, Robeson CC, Sampson CC, and Sandhills CC.
“As we continue to work with our education partners to ensure aligned career pathways for our students, this partnership with Methodist University offers additional opportunities for our graduates,” said CCCC President Dr. Lisa M. Chapman. “The agreement not only assures admission to Methodist University for Central Carolina graduates, but it also provides them with access to scholarship dollars to assist with their education expenses. Streamlining the transfer process, supporting student engagement in Methodist University student activities prior to transfer, and providing dollars toward educational expenses all enhance opportunity and success for CCCC graduates. That’s a win for our community!”
