Nursing students at work in the Simulation Hospital

Welcome to the Methodist University School of Health Sciences Department of Nursing web page. I, along with the Nursing faculty and staff, are excited that you are considering or have chosen Methodist to begin your career in the field of Nursing!

Dr. Shannon MatthewsThe Traditional BSN pre-licensure program prepares graduates as nurse generalists to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Passing this exam leads to licensure as a Registered Nurse and begins the graduate’s journey in the rewarding field of professional nursing. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Methodist University was established in August 2010 and graduated the first class of students May 2014.

Our program will prepare you for a wide variety of roles in the nursing profession as well as for graduate studies when you choose to advance your career. Nurses are integral partners in the health care team and you will play a major role in transforming the delivery of health care. Our program of nursing strives to attract students who genuinely view nursing as a passion and exhibit the desire to fulfill the holistic needs of the patient and community they serve.

Please feel free to explore our web page and discover more about what Methodist University Nursing can help you achieve. The faculty and I are here to assist you to succeed with your goals and we look forward to having you as a student!

Sincerely,

Shannon Matthews, DNP, RN, CHSE
