Student Supplies and Equipment Grants through Methodist University

Students who need assistance purchasing basic research and creativity supplies and equipment are encouraged to apply for a Project Supplies/Equipment Grant. Students can only apply for one Project Supplies/Equipment Grant per academic year, the maximum award is up to $250.00, and only one award per project is allowed. The application process is competitive, and some items cannot be funded by the CRC (some examples of excluded items are listed here, and any questions can be directed to the MU CRC): 1) electronics and other more expensive devices; 2) items that exceed $250 may not be funded, and those that greatly exceed $250 will not be funded; 3) memberships, certifications, or subscriptions; 4) other more expensive and intangible purchases rather than more affordable and tangible purchases.

Student Travel Grant through Methodist University

Students wishing to travel to a professional conference in order to deliver a presentation are encouraged to apply for a Student Travel Grant. The application process is competitive. Applicants can request up $250.00 to cover travel and registration expenses. However, if a student is only attending a conference (i.e., not giving a presentation, not serving on a panel, not presenting a poster, etc.), then that student will not be eligible for this grant. Students can apply for only one travel grant per academic year. If a group of students is presenting at the same conference, then the group is encouraged to apply together.

Other Federal and State Grants for Students Conducting Undergraduate Research

There are numerous national and state grants for students wanting to conduct undergraduate research projects. The CRC is willing to assist students in locating these opportunities; however, it is the responsibility of the student and faculty mentor to write and submit the grant. It is highly recommended that students start the grant-writing process early, as the submission deadlines vary by grant.
