Applicant Review Process

Consistent with the University admission policy, admission to the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine is without regard to or discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, or status with regard to public assistance or disability.

The Admissions Committee considers a variety of factors when evaluating an application, including:

  • Academic performance
  • Extracurriculars and experiences
  • Military affiliation
  • Geographic tie to our area

AMCAS Application

The initial screening of applicants is done through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) application. Applicants are screened for meeting minimum requirements. MU CFVH does not review applications until they are verified by AMCAS. As part of the verification process, AMCAS will verify your submitted transcripts.

Secondary Application

Secondary applications are not evaluated until letters of recommendation, MCAT scores, and the secondary application fee have been received.

Interview

The third phase of the application process involves an interview. After a holistic review of a candidate’s file, the applicant may be invited to participate in an interview.

Admissions Decisions

The MU CFVH School of Medicine Admissions Committee will review the complete application file, and applicants will be notified of their admissions decision after the interview.
